Campustown Evolution

Set to be complete in August 2020, Hub on Campus Champaign is a 17-story mixed-use development designed to bring an extraordinary lifestyle experience to UIUC students. The building's convenient location in 'Campustown' is adjacent to the University of Illinois campus and walking distance to Greek life and popular nightlife spots. The MA team is working with Chicago-based developer, Core Spaces, to design the project.

The Kompas Fellowship is a rare opportunity for recent college graduates to gain hands-on professional experience before moving on to graduate school. Boasting an impressive portfolio and innovative idea, Angel Tang (University of Michigan, ’19) has been selected as the 2019-2020 Fellow. Starting this summer, she will spend 80% of her time assisting the MA team with real-life projects and 20% of her time exploring an independent research venture.

The International Design Awards (IDA) recognize and celebrate smart and sustainable multidisciplinary design, promoting legendary design visionaries as well as emerging talent. Chosen among hundreds of impressive submissions, Myefski Architects’ design of the Royal Danish Theatre was selected as the winner of the Conceptual Architecture category, receiving the ‘Gold’ designation.

A Historic Honor

Sponsored by the Glencoe Historical Society as part of the city’s 150th-anniversary celebration, the Glencoe Hall of Fame was established to honor current and past Glencoe residents that have made the town a better place. The Hall of Fame selection committee received over 250 nominations for the inaugural class, resulting in the official selection of 150 members. John Myefski, President + Principal of Myefski Architects and long-time Glencoe resident, was inducted into this historic group for his many contributions to the community.

The Architect’s Newspaper (A|N), an international publication that provides news to architects, designers, and influencers across the world, has selected the work of Christopher Myefski (Architectural Intern at Myefski Architects) for a Best of Design Award. With the goal of recognizing exceptional talent in the design community, A|N holds the annual Best of Design awards program to showcase outstanding buildings, interiors, and installations across 45 categories.

It provides a set of guidelines for the creation of highly efficient and cost-effective buildings. Each project being considered for LEED must adhere to strict regulations to determine its certification level (Certified, Silver, Gold, or Platinum).

Latvian teamakers Ozolini worked with Bee Breeders to host an international design contest that sought off-the-grid forest cabin designs for eco-tourists interested in a silent meditative retreat. Sited on Ozolini's teamaking grounds in rural Latvia, designs were judged on their integration within the surrounding forest and their sensitivity to the environment. As one of only eleven U.S. firms to receive recognition, Myefski Architects’ silent meditation forest cabin was selected as a shortlisted project.
